- I-985/US-23 North and go 52.6
- Bear L on US-23 and go 43.7
- Arrive at US-64.
  - As you approach US-64, you’ll pass through the last gas, fast food, and grocery.
- US-441/US-64 to Wine Spring Bald
  - West on US-64 and go 3.8
  - R on Patton Rd (watch for LBJ Job Corps camp sign) and go 0.3
  - L on Wayah Rd and go 9.0. Paved, but some parts are twisty/winding and slow.
  - Immediately after USFS-96 on R, turn…
  - L onto dirt road and go 0.1.
    - Keep L at fork. Park in small parking area at end of dirt road.
  - Note: There are some pretty deep ruts on this short driveway/road in 2014.
McDonalds: Cornelia, GA (Level Grove Rd) about 1:15 from home.
- Slow McDonalds in Clayton, GA and Franklin, NC, if you miss the Cornelia McD.

- R on USFS-69 and go 3.5
- Sharp R on Wayah Rd and go 10 feet
- Immediate L onto dirt road and go 0.1.
  - Keep L at fork. Park in small parking area at end of dirt road.

- Follow Yellow Bald’s directions back to US-441
- L on US-441 and go 8.6
- L on US-64 W and go 3.8
- Watch for LBJ Job Corps sign
- R on Patton Rd and go 0.3
- L on Wayah Rd and go 9.1
- Immediately after USFS-69 branches off to the right, turn L into driveway.
- Keep L at fork
- Parking lot in about 50’

- I-85 North to I-985 North to US-23 North to US-64 West at Franklin

Duration: 1.9 miles, 1095’ climb, 1:35 up, 1:00 down (2020, after hiking Wesser)
Navigation
- Facing back the way you drove in, there is a dirt trail to your right, uphill.
- Follow this trail through the picnic table area.
- When you come to a dirt road, cross it and take the AT log stairs and trail which are slightly to R of straight. Do not take the road. AT comes in from L, up some log stairs and leaves to slight R, up some log stairs.
  - PAY ATTENTION - coming out, do not follow the AT after you cross the road – you’ll take the path to the L (when you’re coming out) of the below-the-road stairs.
- Head south on the trail about 1.7 to a clearing where you can see the bald
- Follow the manway 0.2 up the ridge to the summit. You’ll want long pants in the summer.
